MISSION, VISION & VALUES
Joining God in the joy of loving people to life in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We envision OBCC being an "Antioch Church" with a Spirit-driven, risk-taking, outward orientation that transforms our community one life at a time, and from here the world, with the life-changing love of Christ! The Antioch church (Acts 11:19-30; 13:1-3) was a high impact church that truly touched the world. Antioch's missional focus was birthed in prayer and resulted in intense training, intentional multicultural outreach, marketplace influence, generous giving, and mission sending. All of this happened through the working of and obedience to the Holy Spirit.
These 5 Core Values guide our ministry vision and philosophy. They are at the core of who we are as a community and they impact all that we do.
1. PASSIONATELY PURSUING GOD
We will pursue a fully abandoned and vibrant relationship with Jesus and nothing will stop us.
Intimacy with Jesus is best cultivated through the Word, prayer, and worship.
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” – Philippians 3:8
2. CELEBRATING LIFE-CHANGE
We celebrate and take joy in life change and transformation.
God’s ultimate purpose for us is to transform us into the image of Jesus.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
3. LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIPS
We are driven by friendship rather than function and people matter most to us.
We will not settle for anything less than healthy, honoring, and life giving relationships. Love will define us as a people.
Honesty, transparency, accountability, care, and spiritual growth happen best with relationally connected people.
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." – John 13:35
4. MULTIPLYING LIFE
We will wholeheartedly pursue fulfilling the life giving command of Jesus to make disciples.
We are disciples that make disciples and we see ourselves as missionaries in every area of our lives.
"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations ...'" – Matthew 28:18-19
5. DEPENDING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
We acknowledge our complete dependence on God for every area of our lives.
We dare to believe big dreams and that the Holy Spirit will supernaturally empower us for ministry.
Apart from God we can do nothing.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
