Circle Urban Ministries

OBCC Supported Missions

Circle Urban’s mission statement is “Transforming Chicago’s Westside through faith in action.” For more than 35 years they have been serving the Austin neighborhood by developing youth programs, running a daily food pantry and establishing relationships with like-minded ministries. This has been bringing transformation to their community. But still, that is not enough in their eyes. In 2013 their number one commitment will be to serve more people. How beautiful this must look to our Lord!

David Isabelli

OBCC Supported Missions

In 1984 the Lord opened David’s eyes to see Him as he is! For David, this was the start of a brand new life for him. During his mentoring and training days, the Lord was calling him to Mexico. He served there periodically over the years but in 2011 he went back permanently to Mexico City. During 2012 David has gone through leadership training at Teen Challenge, participated in a Messianic outreach, attended worship seminars and also preached and sang in various venues — Through all this, the WORD of God has been planted in the hearts of many. How blessed it is to rest on the promise that His WORD will not return void, but fulfill the purpose for which it was sent.

Alan and Pat Pettenger

OBCC Supported Missions

The Pettenger’s have been missionaries for 25 years spending the past 19 years in Lesotho, located in South Africa. Their work in Lesotho includes teaching in the Bible school, church planting (30 churches to date) and working together with the national church leaders. For the past year they have been working on a church plant in Roma. For the past year, this young church has been meeting in a shack. Finding land to build on was not very successful. Every time the Pettenger’s went to visit the church they passed by a building that used to be a community center. After looking into the possibility of purchasing the building, the church will be able to contract the building for FREE for three years in exchange for doing some repair work— even though much work is needed, God once again provides!

Andy and Audrey Minch

OBCC Supported Missions - Bible Translation in the Pacific

Andy and Audrey Minch are doing Bible translation in the Pacific. This ministry ensures everyone has the opportunity to read the Bible in their own language. The Wycliffe ministry was founded in 1942, when missionary, William Cameron Townsend found out the Cakchiquel Indians of Guatemala had become concerned the Bible was not available in their language. He resolved that every man, woman and child should be able to read God’s Word in their own language. The Minch’s are part of the team that has kept this vision going. Their current project involves Bible translations on a global scale. More than 700 translations have been completed, and hundreds more are in the process. We stand with them in prayer that this vision will soon become a reality!

Kevin and Miriam Smith

OBCC Supported Missions - Unreached tribes of Kenya

Ministering to the unreached tribes of Kenya, Kevin and Miriam believe that ministry is about relationship to God and to others. Their goal is to build relationships that relate the love of God in a manner that pleases Him and draws the lost near to the Lord. They are involved in a variety of transformational development projects that ultimately point unreached peoples to the love of God. Through these projects, they are seeing people experience God’s love through His people simply living out His love in front of them. There are still more than 20 unreached people groups that continue to resist the truth of the Gospel. The Smith’s believe these groups will be transformed and lasting fruit will come out of it.

Mark and Lynda Hausfeld

OBCC Supported Missions - Reaching the Muslims in Central Eurasia

The Hausfeld’s are part of the Global Initiative Team and their mission is to equip and mobilize the church to reach Muslims everywhere. Two of their many ministries are: Jumaa Prayer—an organized prayer movement dedicated to intercession for the Muslim world and The Jonah Initiative—which challenges, trains, prepares, and empowers evangelists and church planters to proclaim Christ to our present-day Nineveh—the Muslim world! OBCC stands with Mark and Lynda in prayer and support as they bring the word and light of Jesus to this nation.
